Our Chapter History

In the fall of 1961, Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was only an idea on the minds of two associate professors of Music, Miss Lois Alt and Mrs. Betty Beatty, together with two music students, Barbara Zeigler and Ann Kmetz.

They petitioned for a college chapter. On December 11, 1967, the chapter constitution was furnished and a tea was held on January 10 at the home of Miss Alt. The petition was signed at this time by all Epsilon Epsilon Chapter charter members and by the two prospective faculty honorary members.

This petitioning group was inducted on January 19, 1968. The first formal meeting, held January 25, was followed two days later by an Executive Board meeting.

The petition for Epsilon Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota was accepted on March 14th, 1968 and the chapter was installed on April 21, 1968.
