On March 28th, the sisters of Sigma Alpha Iota EE collaborated with the brothers of Phi Mu Alpha Rho Sigma to throw an extremely successful benefit concert! Collaboratively, we raised $1,300 towards the Kardon Center for Arts Therapy in Philadelphia, which is a branch of the Settlement School dedicated to enriching lives through creative expression and therapeutic arts programs.
For months, our treasures, Sophia Isom and Brian Popolo, worked hard on organizing the concert and ensuring its smooth execution. Thanks to Jess Orr, Patrick Skoniczin, and Aiden Brown the sisters and brothers rehearsed endlessly for their performances (and had a lot of fun doing it)! The evening featured performances by Under A Rest A Cappella, Sigma Alpha Iota Choir, Phi Mu Alpha Benefit Brass, SigPhi Combined Choir, and Statesmen's Jazz ensemble.
Under A Rest performed Roadside by Mahalia, Blame it on the Water by Sir Woman, and Sunflower by Rex Orange County.
The SAI choir came out to shine with their beautiful performance of Wax and Wane by Penny Stone, showing peak sisterly love and solidarity. See our performance below!
The brothers in their Phi Mu Alpha Benefit Brass ensemble brought the excitement (and humor) with their alternative and genre defying renditions of Teenagers and Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers, My Way by Frank Sinatra, and Symphony No. 9 by Beethoven. It was definitely a sight to behold!
Joined together, SAI and PMA beautifully sang their rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone by Richard Rogers, showing immense SigPhi love.
The concert ended on an exhilarating note with the Statesmen jazz ensemble, performing Limelight by Gerry Mulligan, Symphony of Riffs by Benny Carter, Kogi by Jacob Mann, and On the Sunny Side of the Street by John Clayton.
Our fraternities’ treasurers came out between songs to announce the raffle winners, causing excitement all around. Statesman played the last astounding tune and the concert concluded. SAI EE president Emily Walbert thanked everyone for their astounding support.
The sisters are so proud of all of their hard work to raise money for the Kardon Center for the Arts!
